Studying Abroad.. Traveling Abroad

Many of my friends this summer are studying abroad in places all over the world. I am so jealous and excited for them because I did this last summer. I studied abroad in Roma, Italia for a month and a half and it was the best experience of my life. I am Italian so it made the experience even greater! I took classes in Italian and practiced my Italian speaking skills every day. I made some great friends abroad f rom the Internet Cafe owner who offered me a job to the guy that worked at the hotel front desk who knew some of my familiy... it was an amazing experience.

If you ever have the change to study abroad or travel abroad... GO!!! I learned how selfish us Americans can be and how our lives are so rushed. In Rome, I would talk to some person in Italian and they would talk to be for about an hour even thought they had to be at work. I have never met people that were so kind and wanted me to be happy and enjoy their gelato or meals. Their culture is all about relaxing and living life.

Has anyone ever studied abroad of traveled abroad and feel the same way?

Here is a picture of the family that owned the Internet cafe in Rome!

Me, Luca - the Italian guy I met on the airplane, Luca's sister, and some people I studied abroad with in Piazza Navona!

Hey Erica! I love your pictures from Rome. I went there when I was 15 for World Youth Day. It was so amazing and I want to go back so bad!!! I think studying abroad there would be awesome...but I don't think that I will be able to do that :(

Hi Erica! I have never been to Rome, but I know it is a beautiful place because of what I have heard and the pictures I have seen. I have though experience that we live life at a very fast pace in the USA and that we do not take our time to enjoy what life gives us. I am from Guatemala and I see that families enjoy their time together, make sure they eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and talk about what its going on. Here we don't do this we are always on the run. We are selfish and we need to think of others.

Erica,

Traveling abroad is an absolute amazing experience! I traveled to Europe when I graduated undergrad in May of 2002. I visited 14 different cities throughout Italy in about a month. It was great! I truly became a wine conaisseur while I was there. Unfortunately, since my life revolves around insects, I feel I miss out on certain things sometimes because I am always looking for bugs especially in new places. Anyway, I really enjoyed the Colloseum, Statue of David, The trevee' fountain, the leaning towers of Pisa, etc. I think my favorite was visiting Elba. What a beautiful island.
