I work at Wiles Elementary in their after school program and was amazed at some of the cameras these children bring to school. Today one of the fifth graders had not a camera but a small video camera that looks like a digital camera to school. She said that her mom bought it for about $50. I am just curious to see how that uploads to the computer or if she takes it into CVS where she bought it and they will put the video on a CD for her.
I have never even heard of this new technology until she brought it to school. I am just amazed how these children are bringing Gameboys and toys like this to school and wonder why it might get taken from their backpacks every now and then. I wonder if I could really trust an elementary school student with a laptop and carrying it around school. I understand how middle schoolers and high schoolers laptops are beneficial, however I feel that alot of technology might be broken such as screens cracked if each child had his/her own computer.

Hey Erica,
Although I totally get what you mean by kids bringing game boys and such to school, I think it would be awesome if students had the capability to bring cameras and laptops. I think that would be pretty awesome. Imagine all the 'techy' lesson plans you could create having those tools available to you.
Yeah I agree that it would be so awesome, but I can't tell you how many times these children leave their belongings behind. I think I could trust Grades 3-5, however the lower grade children are not very organized and would probably drop the laptop or misplace it.
I think it would be a great idea if children could bring cameras and laptops to the classroom. However, there could be problems such as distractions from lessons (like college students already do now during lectures) or even the possibility of arguments when some students have the technology and others don't (a case of the haves and have nots).
